I can see it in his eyes already....

Mommy, I think I should tell you something...the ball went through the neighbors window.....

Whoa! I didn't mean to do it.....

Am I in trouble?....

I'm really really really sorry....

Forgive me!

Boo Bees

Daddy's turn. I'm pretty sure this vid will make it onto the greatest hits album.

A Little More Conversation

Here's a longer one for those who are properly obsessed. (We know who you are!)

A Little Conversation

Quinn will talk if you get your face right up close to his and start doing stupid stuff. His repertoire is basically any variant of the syllable "guh". Sometimes, as this video shows, this can include strange inhalations or outbursts. I love my morning conversations with him, and his talking and smiling are the best reason to wake up with him at 5:30, and that kind of insane schedule needs quite a good reason!

Happy First Father's Day!

A morning cuddle.

A walk through the Botanics...

where the poppies bloom.

A day to say thank you...

for the wonderful Daddy you are!

I'm supposed to be in Minneapolis

As you can see, Quinn is very upset. He is missing the wedding of Amy and Samir today in Minnesota. Quinn was able to express how the three of us are feeling about missing out.

We are sending lots of love to the happy couple, and looking forward to a time in the near future to celebrate your marriage. Cheers to you!

Quinn Welcomes Lotty the Ladybird (bug) to Our Home!

Quinn just took a turn on his new friend Lotty-a play mat where he can, well, PLAY! His favorite part so far is the hanging flower in the middle that has a mirror in it. He does like faces, and it looks like he admires his own as well!

Who's your Daddy?

Quinn sure enjoys Daddy time! AND John loves to bring Quinn's smile, chatter, and giggles to the surface. The following photos catch Quinn admiring his Daddy! The video shows just how far John will go to share some joy with his little man. These moments are some of my favorite parts of the day...sure do love both of my men!

More Sleep News

Quinn has a funny relationship with sleep. After getting even harder to put down than in his first weeks, and waking up at least every 2 hours or so at night, he's actually getting a bit more reliable with his sleeping habits. He can now do 3 hours at a time, and for the past few days, has managed to do those 3 hour sessions at least twice in a night.

This improvement came after we decided to start working toward him being able to fall asleep in the bed rather than requiring our arms to fall asleep. We used to cradle him or put him on our knees and sway him to get him asleep. It was the only way, and still he cried while falling asleep anyways. Now, we just do whatever we can to comfort him, but don't pick him up. The first night was hard, but after only 3 nights, he now only needs a minute or so of rubbing his back to fall asleep in the cot. Nice! This also seems to produce longer sessions of sleep. Presumably, when he wakes up at night, he is putting himself back to sleep with minimal or no crying. More nice!

The other thing about his sleep, which is more relevant to the pictures, is his newly found ability to sleep on his own during the day. For this, only the Boppy will do. And he loves it, as you can see.

Who needs sleep?

The first three photos were taken last night around 9:30 a couple hours past Quinn's bed time!! The rest of the night went a bit like that (minus the adorable smile). He wasn't in the mood to sleep last night. Not so good for a Daddy recovering from a cold and a Mommy who just got the cold. This last pic is of him sleeping right now....If I go and cry in his ear will he let me sleep on his Boppy?

Happy Place

Yesterday Quinn had his first set of immunisations. John went with us...more to hold my hand than the little guys, and I was glad he did. It was heartbreaking for both of us to see him get jabbed with two big needles. He handled the shots pretty well with some tears of course, but was able to calm soon after. Once we got home the rest of the day was spent on the couch in this position...His happy place, and mine!
John's 50% can be found in Quinn's miniature size version of Daddy's lips!

Short Sleeves for Quinn

The weather in Edinburgh this past weekend was gorgeous! It was warm enough to put Quinn in short sleeves! We enjoyed a walk to the park where we overheard some live music, had some grownup talk, and then listened to Quinn make some sounds of his own. At 7 weeks we are enjoying some great conversations with our little guy. Now if I could only understand him when he answers my question: "Why can't you sleep more than two hour increments at night?!!"

Quinn loves to watch light! Seeing the sun shine through his blanket in the park made him quite vocal!
