A bit more sophisticated

This weekend we are going away with some friends. Quinn will be the only baby. So we are looking for ways that he might fit in a bit more....borrowing his Daddy's glasses just might do the trick...

Or not?!!

What's the funniest thing you've ever seen?

I bet this isn't what you were thinking of....

In-hair-ited traits

People say Quinn has Jenny's eyes, her big smile, good looks, etc. At least he has my hair!

Feeling blue

Quinn was not happy last night. He didn't sleep very much at all, has a ton of gook in his nose, and just can't seem to get to that happy place. He is feeling very blue this morning.

But instead of showing you a picture of him in that sort of a state. Here's some fun ones from his most recent blueberry adventure!

Wishy-washy

Quinn has a new obsession. Next step, teaching him how to load it, operate it, and hang the wash when its done.

Toofers

There are two now! It is often difficult to get a glimpse of these tiny teeth in Quinn's mouth. So, I called on Daddy's funny faces help to get his mouth to grin wide enough during bath time. We got'em.

Autumn is different this time

Here in Edinburgh, there's no better place to view the foliage than the Botanic Gardens. Last year, Jenny was a couple months pregnant at the time and just starting to show. My, oh my, how different a walk in the park is these days. As you can see, on this particular day, it was a lot of fun!

GAC and GUB

They're Great, they're Grand, they're Aunt Carolyn and Uncle Bob, they're Quinn's GAC and GUB. Ever since Quinn was the size of a blueberry in my tummy GAC has been all ears (creative ones at that) about the progress of this little person growing inside. Back story: there is a great website that I joined when pregnant called babycenter.com where every week it updates you about the growth and developments of the fetus. It also related the size of the baby to a fruit or veg to give the expectant mom a reality of how big this person was week by week. Well, GAC was very curious as to what was happening as baby grew and started to come up with names relating to the fruit/veg each week. It was a great part of each week to see how creative she got. Also helpful since John and I waited to find out the sex till the birth. So for example at week 20, GAC, looked up varieties of 'banana' on the net and came up with a list of different types of bananas. Then her creative side would take off... Here is an example: Cavendish (sounds like a Scot) or the name Gavin (sort of rhymed with Caven). We didn't go with Cavendish, but she sure was so great to entertain me during my pregnancy every week. So, the first meeting between GAC, GUB and Quinn was just so special. Lots of love in the room and here are a few snapshots that captured it...

Quinn shared a very special moment telling his GUB (with his eyes) how much he loves his rattle. Q has now had the rattle for 6 months and has given it that "well loved look" every baby toy wants. It is often found in Quinn's hand being shaken about, in his mouth licking off that sheen that was once there, or being teethed on (hence the baby tooth carvings on the handle)! I don't think I even need to say it is a favorite!

GAC went all out for Quinn. While in San Francisco she arrived to our hotel room with about 5 big blue packages tied up with string (a favorite thing). Inside each box was an array of clothes starting from 3-6 months up to 12-18 months (Quinn will be sporting a leather jacket during those months might I add). There was also a box full of little boy shoes. Come to find out, GAC went around to many rummage sales, and garage sales to find these nearly new items to fill Quinn's closet. Who knew Quinn would have a personal shopper and a great one at that! He gets many compliments on his stylish wardrobe and I love to share that his GAC is responsible!

We left our heart in San Francisco...so we went to visit it!

Part of the reason for the extra long visit to California was to witness and (for me) be a witness at Jill and Peter's wedding(s)! While there, we got to visit with dear friends, spend time in our old hood, and see family we don't get to see that often. It was a wonderful time! So enjoy the next few posts from our time in S.F.
These first photos are from a walk in our old neighborhood where Jill and peter now live. We got Quinn in the stroller (for a little while) and then enjoyed lattes at our favorite spot: Central Coffee Tea & Spice.

Accessorize Yourself!

Have you had one of those days when you "Don't feel like you look your best". Well, I have the best accessory to add to any outfit to make YOU feel great! The hottest trend for 2009-2010 is no other than a 'Quinn'. I have had a woman walk by and say "I love your baby!" An OAP (old age pensioner-that's what they call a Grandparent type person over here!!) leaving his home said: "Awww Lovely". A smiley woman crossed the street to get a closer look to say; "So cute, even from way over there". Many people turn their heads and get happy just by seeing this little accessory. So I highly recommend trying one on. Best fits in the Ergo or the Sleepy Wrap.
Size x-small, and small are out of stock. Size medium is almost sold out, size large is on back order, and X-Large is in the process of being made. Order yours today! This 'Quinn' is 100% organic, home grown, and made in Scotland.

Only catch: You must come to Edinburgh, Scotland to try him on...sorry only available in the UK... for the next 8-9 months:)

Cuddle Bug

So this past week I got my first cold of the season. I find it isn't so easy to take care of myself and a little one while not feeling so great. Thankfully, the little person took it pretty easy on me and actually just tried to make me feel better. Quinn has been all about the cuddle these past couple of days. (It might be more about his other lower tooth coming up, but I like to believe he likes being in his mama's arms.) I was able to use photobooth to catch this hug. Awwww;)

What were you doing 6 months ago today?

We were welcoming this guy into our world!

At the fine age of 6 months Quinn is:
eating solids,
able to sit up (a bit wobbly),
slithering all around and eager to crawl,
has a tooth...and teething,
loves to smile,
loves to laugh (especially at his Daddy),
cuddles with mommy everyday,
sadly not sleeping through the night,
brings a lot of fun to our days,
loved SO much.

Hallelujah-We've got a tooth!

After months of drool, weeks of putting anything and everything in his mouth, and a terrible, horrible, no good week, Quinn has his first tooth! Oh thank goodness that's what it was all about! Now only 19 baby teeth to go...Nae bother!
So after Monkey Music today, the other mom's and I headed for our regular coffee after class with our babies. I made comment of the terrible, horrible, no good week we had had and thought a tooth might be coming. I also stated it would be nice if it would just show up (if that is what it is) so I know (this is his mood) for next time. Shortly after Quinn was gumming a teether, he placed my finger in his mouth and... Bingo...there it was, an itty bitty pointy thing jabbing me. No photos of the white speck yet, but when it is ready to be seen you will see it here~

Cowboy

We got a new floor for part of our kitchen. I love interlocking rubber tiles. I think we will put these in every room in our next house. Especially cow-pattern ones.

Food, Wonderful Food

Quinn tried food grown in the ground for the first time yesterday. He liked it and reached for the spoon pretty much the whole time. But I wonder what he liked about it, because he didn't really "eat" it. As you would expect, most of it ended up on his clothes.

Hiya!

Just a wee photo that I like. And no, we don't dress him up all the time.
